Dogs can get overzealous — even competitive — with canine housemates when it comes to receiving an owner’s attention or other good things, like toys and treats.
An excited dog may unintentionally bulldoze other pets when he moves in to say hello or get a reward. But in many cases, an enthusiastic dog can be taught to patiently wait his turn for attention or treats.
In our new video, trainer Mikkel Becker visits one home where this problem was playing out. See how she works with Pit Bulls Mia and Baby, and learn her training advice for dealing with this issue in your own home.
And remember, in situations where competition or excitement leads to aggressive reactions like growls, snaps or other physical threats, contact your veterinarian for further guidance.
