We asked our friends at Google which pet costumes the Internet is buzzing about this October — and you may be surprised by the results.
First, some really neat trivia: Google searches for cat costumes are up 35 percent from last Halloween, and queries for dog outfits have increased by 50 percent. New Jersey produced the most searches for feline getups. The state that did the most Googling for canine costumes? Ohio.
And now, without further ado, we reveal the 10 most popular critter Halloween costume searches on Google, starting with No. 10.
Headless Horseman Dog Rider
How clever is this Halloween costume? It fits just like a harness, which is perfect for sensitive dogs who you may not be able to wrangle into a full-body outfit.
Superman
Your dog is your hero, so why not dress him up like one? Take him trick-or-treating in this awesome cape, and all the neighborhood bad guys will be on their best behavior.
Darth Vader
On an average day, your four-legged Star Wars fan probably looks more like Chewbacca than Darth Vader. But this holiday celebrates the imagination, so let him pretend to be human for once!
Yoda
If Darth Vader isn't quite the right fit, dress your pet as the powerful Jedi Master of legendary wisdom — rather apropos for senior animals!
Muppet
Jim Henson's characters are already animals — Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and many more — so it's not that much of a stretch to transform your pet into one of these beloved characters.
Cowboy Dog Rider
Yee-haw! We know cowboys can ride horses, but can they handle a dog? Tie a cowboy (or cowgirl) bandanna around your pet's neck to complete this rugged American look.
Lion
What better than a ferocious lion costume to turn your small cat into a very big cat?
Caterpillar
Your pet may want to rock the caterpillar costume this year. You know, since four legs isn't enough.
Ewok
Another Star Wars getup? The force is strong with four-legged defenders of the Rebel Alliance.
Peter Pan
Drum roll, please! The most-searched pet Halloween costume this year: Peter Pan. Some cats and dogs just never want to grow up!
