Pet parents are, perhaps more than ever, keenly aware of their pets’ diets and fully understand the importance of what their pets consume daily. This trend is why many pet parents explore healthier options, like “cleaner” foods, probiotics for dogs, cat and dog multivitamins, and more.
A greater emphasis on overall pet health has created a huge global market. Research shows that demand for cat and dog supplements is expected to grow to over $3.1 billion by 2030.
As more pet parents seek out the best supplements for dogs, we’re taking a closer look at a promising new product line. We put Pet Protect by the makers of Advantage to the test for pet parents curious about dog supplements.
What Is Pet Protect?
Pet Protect is a line of vet-formulated cat and dog supplements created by the makers of Advantage, a trusted name in pet healthcare for over 25 years. Pet Protect’s formulas are used in thousands of vet clinics nationwide and are designed to help your cat and dog during their earliest years and throughout their lifespan as they age and have different needs.
The line received the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) quality seal. NASC is a non-profit trade organization that promotes the health and well-being of companion animals. They are committed to ensuring the highest standards throughout the manufacturing process for these niche products.

Formulations high in Omega-3s for dogs are crafted to help promote overall wellness, strengthened immunity, and more. Additional formulas are touted as foundational dog probiotics that help support gut and stomach health. Putting Pet Protect Pet Supplements to the Test
We tested Pet Protect Hip and Joint Glucosamine Soft Chews for two weeks with our rescue dog, Wally. Wally hasn’t had any specific large-scale health issues that warranted a prescription supplement, but our boy has slowed down slightly as he’s gotten older. Against that backdrop, we didn’t think twice about the chance to try joint supplements for dogs that may help him as he ages.

In our trial run, we first noticed the product’s ease of use and storage. Packaged in an airtight, easily resealable pouch, It can be kept at room temperature without needing special refrigeration.
Like most new products we’ve tried with Wally, we eased him into these dog supplements. Our primary delivery mechanism was with the soft chews, which Wally enjoyed.
Pet Protect advises providing these chews during or after mealtimes to avoid gastric upset, so we used them as a meal topper during feedings. Throughout the two-week trial period, we gave Wally these supplements twice daily (once in the morning and once in the evening), in line with the brand’s recommended amount for a pet weighing 61 to 100 pounds.
Though touted as one component in the start of a well-rounded joint health regiment, we did start to see some light benefits by the conclusion of our trial, in line with the brand’s timing estimates of 2 to 4 weeks to experience a difference. Specifically, we noticed Wally recovered better from his usual night-time “zoomies.” He would typically walk a bit tenderly after a short burst of exercise. However, his movements seemed to have improved.
Pet Protect Dog Supplements: Our Verdict
Pet Protect offers some of the best supplements for dogs. These easy-to-use products cover various health needs, including joint health, gut health (probiotics for dogs), and a multivitamin for overall wellness. The products are straightforward and provide a reliable solution for pet parents wanting to take proactive measures to keep their pets healthy.

Things We Like
- Powerful Brand Backing: We like Pet Protect, which comes from the makers of Advantage,a leader in pet health for almost three decades.
- Vet Formulated: Formulas developed by veterinarians and used in vet clinics nationwide.
- Ease of Use: These products are incredibly easy to store and administer, making them valuable additions to any pet parent’s cabinet. Their simplicity also makes them a nice entry point for pet parents exploring the world of dog supplements.
- Chicken Flavor Profiles: Our dog generally eats a chicken-type dish, so the soft-chew flavor was a perfect addition to his regular meals.
Things to Consider
- Benefits Not Immediate: Like most supplements or nutritional changes, the benefits are generally not immediate.
- Limited Flavor Selection: While there are multiple product lines, these products—specifically the soft chews—are not available in a wide array of flavors. The one flavor offering is chicken.
As the demand for pet supplements continues to grow, Pet Protect offers an easy and reliable line of products.
We initially started this as a two-week trial, but Wally’s initial success is leading us to likely continue using the product into the future as he ages. We tested the joint health dog supplements, but we’d be willing to try the other Pet Protect products that promote overall wellness and gut health.
While you should consult your veterinarian before administering any new product, I recommend trying the Pet Protect line.
